Earlier this summer we created an online application that worked on smart phones such as the Blackberry and iPhone. It was created so the user can quickly search the SPAC calendar and find what acts are playing. Drawing directly from the online database, we established a layout that worked well on a small screen, with buttons large enough to press with your finger. This was the first summer that SPAC used the new application and it proved stable, and error-free. I’m sure that next year, it will be enhanced.

The iPhone and Droid systems were quite easy to develop, since you only had to create one version. For the Blackberry how ever, we created four versions: one for each of their systems. This goes with the territory when dealing with new environments like phone applications, and shows how much a company like Research In Motion has developed since their original smart phone.
