Saratoga Coffee Shop Nails It With “Community” Blog: Business Blogging Done Right

February 15th, 2010 by Shannon-Rose Design

Uncommon Grounds—coffee and sandwich shops located in both Saratoga Springs and Albany—recently launched their Community Blog page and it is a testament to business blogging done right.A lot of businesses work blogs into their websites for searchability, but run up against a lack of solid content. At Shannon-Rose, we build blogs for companies all the time, and even have a copywriter who specializes in getting these blogs up and running. So, we know first-hand that it’s something a company could pay a full-time staffer to run, especially if you want it done well.

They even have a section dedicated to photos of latte art done by baristas.

At Uncommon Grounds, their blog is rich with fun content, photos, and great articles that support the UG brand and give customers what they’d hope to find on a company blog: insight into what the people who run the place are like, thoughtful information, and a way to build a relationship that goes beyond transactions.

Learn about the art displayed in Uncommon Grounds on their blog.

UG is already known for this kind of relationship, with a hoard of regulars and die-hard fans that naturally translated online to a wildly successful Twitter following. Check out their blog for Monday Link Round-Ups, trips to other local establishments like The Wine Bar (which carries UG coffee), Guest Posts, photos of monthly, in-store art exhibits, and profiles of regular customers and past employees. We’re a fan of their Flickr page, too—especially the “historic shots” of Uncommon Grounds first location in Saratoga in the early 90s! Far out.

Well done, UG! Keep up the good work!
