Although this post is about Shannon-Rose Copywriter and Web Strategist, Carey Burden, it is also chock full of juicy Search Engine Optimized links to other local blog and Twitter pages.
Carey has an extremely successful blog that she and her husband Rob publish together called Corks and Caftans. Carey writes about fashion, while Rob favors wine.
Their blog traffic grew significantly by late summer when Carey was asked to be a guest blogger other on other blog sites, notably NYC-based blog, Walking Around… Where the Sidewalk Begins, which came about when she and the blog’s author got connected by exchanging comments on each other’s blogs.
More reciprocal blog comments here and there led to a national blog feature on Shopbop.com that brought Corks + Caftans national attention. After that post, their daily visits skyrocketed, and Carey and Rob’s life had suddenly become public to thousands of people each week.
The local media is now catching on to the fashionable couple that posts daily about their love of the finer things, a jetset lifestyle of travel, fun and friends. Last week they were interviewed by two local blog publications, All Over Albany and Saratoga Seen, part of the Times Union Blog Group which in part is a subsidary of the Times Union newspaper located in Albany, NY, which in turn is part of the Hearst Corporation publishing empire. Both of these interviews came about entirely thanks to Twitter, and local tweeters talking about C+C and it’s ShopBop feature.
Carey and Rob were interviewed by Kristin Campbell, who is a local social media entrepreneur, for Alloveralbany.com then by Christen Gowan of SaratogaSeen.com, both at the Wine Bar on Broadway in Saratoga Springs. The articles were published, Tweeted, and Facebooked, and their hits went through the roof. Thanks to the Capital Region Twitter community, Carey and Rob are getting hooked into the local blogging scene and making new contacts every day.
A lot of people are talking about social media in action, including me, but Carey is actually successful doing it. Carey Wodehouse Burden works at Shannon-Rose Design. Her job is to create online strategies and write blogs.

Carey certainly seems to be on her game. Her strategy certainly seems to be working – in that she’s successfully using social media to increase visibility and generating traffic.
Reading about bloggers like Carey is very encouraging as I work to start my new blog. She seems to have consistently combined great content with great network. Always a winning combination!
