Head of the Fish Shirt Design

If you read this blog you might know that we design shirts for several rowing regattas here in Saratoga Springs, NY. For the final season of the year, we brought back the original shirt designer and founder of the Head of the Fish, Tom Frost, to create another Halloween Treat. His shirts are classics and people have collected them for over 25 years.

Tom is a rather famous architect in Saratoga Springs, and dabbles in design… sort of.  ”Sort of” means that he brings out his old press type and rapidograph pens. The drawings came to me as pen and ink drawings on mylar sheets. He hand-drew the letters and registration marks. This is very old school design, which made it a little difficult to create digital files from. They didn’t fit into our scanner, so I thought I’d hang them on the wall and shoot each separately. It went well and I only had to reset the small text with the date.
